Meet Carly – the Head of our CFO Advisory team. Carly is a qualified and experienced CFO who is passionate about helping others realise their business potential.
What do you do?
Each day at Dexterous is different, but I’m often involved with meeting potential CFOs to join our team, meeting new clients, and listening to their business stories – the highs, the lows, the successes, the dreams, and the Visions for the future and often the obstacles that stand in the way of that.
Being a CFO is a natural fit for me. I am fuelled by the stories behind businesses. I am always curious why they started, the passion that is behind them and to hear about the heart, blood, sweat and tears that people put in every day to achieve their business goals.
I am also an extremely passionate advocate for women in business. I love to collaborate with professional women to achieve outcomes that simply could not be accomplished without our alignment of vision and effort.
What are your qualifications? Do you have an area of speciality?
I am a Chartered Accountant (CAANZ), Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). I love identifying risks and opportunities and I am driven to dig deep in search of key business drivers and enhance them to profitably scale businesses.
This passion is evident throughout my career, working in roles and with mentors that have inspired me to understand a business from the inside out and that can leave a legacy and footprint of influence in their wake. This experience over the last two decades – from starting my career with PwC as an auditor, through founding, growing and selling my own business through to amazing CFO roles that I have had the opportunity to have impact with.

I have two big tips to share with you. They are both equally important. And I just can’t choose between them. So you get two!
What do you love about your job at Dexterous?
Here at Dexterous, we are a full finance team that works collaboratively with businesses to help them grow. We treat each client’s business as if it were our own. We get to sit side by side with our clients on their journey. I could not imagine a better job!
What’s the last new skill you learnt?
I am currently studying to get my boat licence. And I’m hoping to master the ability to reverse a trailer down a boat ramp!
